Bac Giang is a province in northeastern Vietnam with the population of about 1,624,456 (2014). Energy consumption here is expected to rise dramatically due to increasing population, rapid social economic development and improving living standards. As a result, power saving is necessary to ensure energy security.

According to Mr. Duong Van Tuan, Director of Bac Giang Energy Conservation Center, the province aims to save 5 - 8% of total energy consumption over the period 2016 - 2020. Accordingly, it plans to replicate “Energy saving family model” developed in Tran Nguyen Han Ward, Bac Giang City since 2013 in other parts of the province.
In order to boost the effect of “Power saving family” program, Bac Giang Province will foster communication activities to encourage people to use electricity saving lighting devices; renewable energy equipments, solar water heaters, biomass facilities for daily needs.
Moreover, Bac Giang Province will also encourage manufacturers to produce electricity saving products and provide subsidy to promote them among agencies, communities and households.
