Hanoi targets 2 - 3% energy saved in 2016

Hanoi will strive to save from 2 to 3% of energy consumption, encourage energy-intensive industries to adopt energy-efficiency technologies.

On 1st March 2016, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan has signed the decision to implement plan 47/KH-UBND to kick off Energy Efficiency Program in Hanoi city. Accordingly, Hanoi will strive to save from 2 to 3% of energy consumption, encourage energy-intensive industries to apply energy efficiency technologies. 

To reach its target, the city has strengthened propagation activities to raise people’s awareness, promote energy efficiency and environment protection, build database of energy consumption; maintain websites for energy efficiency; inspect the implementation of  Law on energy saving and conservation in energy-intensive corporations; and strengthen Energy Efficiency program management unit.

Moreover, the city will also encourage high efficiency equipment and green technologies via “International Exhibition on Environment and Energy Technology” (ENTECH HANOI). Hanoi will also promote energy efficiency through seminars, forums and communication products such as leaflets, posters, handbooks etc. It will also implement energy saving pilot projects, gradually replace inefficient devices with more efficient ones. 

Additionally, the city will make effort to increase the number of energy saving families and change people’s habits of using energy; promote new and renewable energy solutions such as biogas tunnels, solar heaters etc. among households. 

Along with that, Hanoi will encourage industries to adopt clean technologies to conserve natural resources and help the capital to develop sustainably. Futhermore, the city will mobilize capital and develop policies to attract investment from all economic sectors.
