Five years ago, facing with the need to save electricity to cut down power expense, Sai Gon Morin Hue Hotel – a four starred hotel in Thua Thien – Hue decided to replace the electrical water heaters with heaters using solar energy, although this type of product had not been very popular in the city back then.

It was calculated that the initial investment for installing solar power devices at Sai gon Morin Hue Hotel was over 1 billion dong. The hotel has already invested in water heaters using solar power with total capacity of 15 thousand liters to serve at some department such as bedrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and for daily use.

After 5 years of use, the water heater system using solar power at Sai Gon Morin Hue Hotel has been functioning quite well and has helped save over VND50 million/month, equivalent to 25 thousand kW per month.

At the moment, in the province of Thua Thien Hue there are many units and individuals using solar power to save electricity and to have more control over their power use even during the electricity reduction periods.
