As reported by the International Cooperation Department - Ministry of Inductry and Trade, Vietnam and Russian Federation will maintain the close and effective cooperation in energy sector, development priority will be given to the strategic sector of oil and gas.
At the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental session which was held in mid-September, the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade V.Khristenko officially signed the Roadmap for the implementation of Vietnam - Russia cooperation projects in energy sector (Energy cooperation roadmap).

The roadmap includes: oil and gas industry, gas industry, electric power and hydropower, nuclear power, coal industry and other energy sources.
In recent years, Vietnam has been cooperating with Russia in many fields, such as oil and gas exploration, extraction and processing, energy and mining, and has achieved good results. In particular, Vietsopetro oil and gas joint venture project has been deployed since 1981.
