A one day training programme was conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA), Tezu Division yesterday on Energy Conservation, Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and Standard & Labelling for Government employees and panchayat leaders.

Lohit Deputy Commissioner Dr. BM Mishra while inaugurating the training programme stressed on practicing energy conservation at home and offices. He said that the judicious use of energy is one of the measures by which our natural resources could be saved from complete depletion.

Stating that officers being the first target group should have first hand idea about energy saving in order to spread the message. The DC also advised Panchayat members to spread the message to energy conservation practices to the villagers so that they learn how to use energy judiciously.

Superintendent of Police Ved Prakash Surya while emphasizing the need for energy conservation urged people to use renewable energy devices like solar lamps etc. He also urged the participants to spread the message of energy conservation to the children and youngsters.

The resource person, K Mallick of the National Productivity Council (NPC) Kolkata explained various aspects of energy conservation, standard and labeling and Energy conservation building code in his presentation. He also dwelt on the various aspects of Star Labelling and conservation of energy in commercial buildings.

While welcoming the guests, the Deputy Director Tezu Division Er.M Bam informed that the training programme has been sponsored by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Government of India, New Delhi as one of its awareness progarmmes. He informed that the BEE has been formed by the GoI to take care of all the aspects of energy conservation and efficiency under the provisions of Energy Conservation Act, 2001. Due to rapid urbanization, energy demands are increasing with limited resources, therefore, the programme has been conducted to bring awareness among the people about the energy conservation practices, he said.
