On May 14, 2015, a workshop on clean energy took place in HCM City with the theme "Smart Solutions for Vietnam". The Workshop was co-organized by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and Investment Newspaper to promote clean energy cooperation between the two countries.

On May 13, in Ha Nam province, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a factory of telecommunication equipment and LED Lighting, organized by KMW Vietnam Company (FDI Korean Enterprise).

Development of nuclear power (nuke power) for peaceful purposes is the consistent policy of Vietnam. This is one of the perspective and the legal basis for Vietnam's most important policy developed specifically for nuclear power reactors. This view was reflected in the decision to approve the Orientation for nuclear power planning and development in Vietnam toward 2030 by the Prime Minister.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) announced that in April 2015, the national grid was in stable supply to meet the demands of socio-economic political activities, business production and domestic demands.

Official Letter No. 623/TTg-KTN issued by the Prime Minister dated May 5, 2015 endorsed the pilot implementation of a project on application of "Technology to using domestic solid waste as alternative fuel in cement plants in Vietnam".

The International Exhibition on Energy Efficiency - Hanoi Environment (Entech Hanoi 2015) will take place during May 20-22, 2015 at the International Exhibition Centre ICE Hanoi, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi. This is a specialized trade fair of energy efficiency in Vietnam, appealing much attention from the domestic and international community.

On May 5, 2015 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong presided over the meeting to collect feedback and comments on the Draft "Electricity Development Strategy for Vietnam by 2025 and Vision to 2035".

According to statistics from the General Department of Energy (MOIT), currently, the power consumption for lighting accounts for 35% of total power consumption of the country. Meanwhile, this indicator in other countries only accounts for about 15-17%.

In 2014, the Governments of Vietnam and the United States signed cooperation agreement on the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes (Agreement 123). Thereby, it creates the legal framework for the relevant bodies of the two sides to carry out specific cooperation, including cooperation on personnel training and development of human resources in the field of atomic energy.

Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) reveals that in the framework of the International Exhibition of LED/OLED Technology and Lighting Equipment in Vietnam to be held in HCM City during May 7-9, 2015 there will be a presentation for Vietnamese businesses about the Project "Development and promotion of LED lighting technology in Vietnam".

Small and medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam account for 40% of total energy consumption in the industrial sector. The potentiality for energy efficiency is large, but local policies to promote savings for the sectors of brick, ceramics and food processing are not really showing the effects.

During two days of April 11-12, the final round of 2015 Honda ''Eco Mileage Challenge" (Honda EMC) took place in the National Conference Center (Hanoi).

On April 10th, the Workshop on “Policy and Financing of Energy Efficiency in Vietnam” under the Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE) was held.

In the first quarter of 2015, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) announced that the national grid has been in stable, safe and sound power supply operation. The Corporation has made 03 sessions of water discharge from hydropower reservoirs of Hoa Binh, Thac Ba and Tuyen Quang to irrigate for the 2014 - 2015 Winter-Spring cultivation in the provinces in the Midlands and Northern Delta.

Funded by the Ministry of Economy and Energy, Germany, the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) in collaboration with the Baden-Wurttemberg International Agency for International Economic and Scientific Cooperation successfully held a Workshop on "Energy Management in Industries and Buildings in Vietnam".

In the evening of March 28, together with nearly 200 countries and territories comprising approximately 7,000 cities worldwide, Vietnam responded to Earth Hour Campaign simultaneously in 63 provinces, cities by exemplary action of switching off lights for one hour from 20h30 to 21h30.

As one of the first businesses to voluntarily participate in energy labeling roadmap of Vietnam, JSC Daikin Air Conditioning (Vietnam) conducted energy labeling for their products prior to the time required.

To ‘green’ schools and increase student awareness of energy savings and renewable energy, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has implemented green school model at Luong The Vinh primary school.

On February 5th, 2014, a meeting of the Project Steering Committee of Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE) in the field of energy saving in Vietnam took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

On February 7th in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized Earth Hour 2015 Launching Campaign at Thong Nhat Park with the technical support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam.
