On May 24, 2015, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, HCM City Youth Union held a creative contest in model assembling with the theme "Energy saving".

The Newspaper Career Journal - Ho Chi Minh City Journalist Association and the city Power Corporation held the evaluation review and awarding for Cartoonists who participated in the Cartoon Contest on Electricity Saving 2015.

The Department of Science and Technology of HCM City recently held a workshop on "Solutions to Urban Waste Disposal - Research into Technology and Feasibility" to assess the situation and propose feasible solutions and technologies for making use of a huge energy from waste and urban waste disposal.

On May 14, 2015, a workshop on clean energy took place in HCM City with the theme "Smart Solutions for Vietnam". The Workshop was co-organized by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and Investment Newspaper to promote clean energy cooperation between the two countries.

On May 5, 2015, Mr. Le Manh Ha, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee directed the Department of Science and Technology to coordinate with the Urban Environment Company Limited to do research into an investment project on building a hyper grate incinerator.

On April 20, 2015 in Ho Chi Minh city, the Ministry of Construction, the Embassy of Denmark and Ho Chi Minh city Energy Conservation Center (ECC HCMC) jointly organized a training of trainers (briefly called TOT) on applying the National Technical Regulations QCVN 09: 2013 / BXD – in construction with efficient use of energy.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has requested the Department of Industry and Trade and the Energy Conservation Center of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation to undertake the investment project on building an incinerator generator with a capacity of 1,000 tons of waste/day, which generates power from the waste burnt.

This plan will also help reduce environmental pollution, enhance high production and competitiveness, aiming at building a green, clean and modern city.

To ‘green’ schools and increase student awareness of energy savings and renewable energy, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has implemented green school model at Luong The Vinh primary school.

The Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) and the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA) organized a conference on improving energy efficiency for large enterprises in order to help them implement energy-saving solutions, save costs and improve competitiveness.

The Ministry of Construction said five localities including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and Can Tho would pilot using energy efficient and energy-saving construction materials in construction works.

In July 2013, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation managed to save over 288.94 million kWh of electricity, accounting for 2.83% of the commercial electricity, reaching 79.6% of the target in the year 2013, and increasing by 2.35% as compared to the same period last year.

In the first 6 months this year, in order to encourage the community to take part in energy saving programs, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation printed more than 1.8 million flyers, 21,000 energy conservation stickers promoting energy savings to households and over 2,500 posters and banners.

On June 26, the Energy Conservation Center Ho Chi Minh City (ECC HCMC) and Vinh Long Department of Trade and Industry signed a deal to cooperate and implement energy efficiency activities in Vinh Long province

Colusa-Miliket Foodstuffs Joint Stock Company has become the first business in Ho Chi Minh City to get a certificate for meeting ISO 50001 standards in energy management.

On March, 26 in Hanoi, the Department of Science, Technology and Environment under the Ministry of Construction and the Energy Conservation Center of Ho Chi Minh City (ECC HCMC) co-organized the award ceremony of "the first energy-efficient architecture" competition.
