On May 24, 2015, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, HCM City Youth Union held a creative contest in model assembling with the theme "Energy saving".

At Entech Hanoi in 2015, besides the advanced technologies and products of overseas and local businesses, there are also various models on display, unique in ideas about the use of energy, invented by university students.

In response to the National Target Program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, for the past 5 years (2010 - 2014), through the Power Saving Movement, Energy Saving in households, Hanoi has more 132 million kWh of electricity saved, equivalent to more than VND160 billion. Communication is evaluated as an important contribution to this outcome.

Asahi Glass Co., Japan has brought to the Trade Fair Entech Hanoi 2015 a technology of energy saving glass which can potentially save over 30% of energy.

23 May 2015 Ha Noi – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Viet Nam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh cut the ribon to inaugurate the official opening of Green One UN House (GOUNH) in Vietnam.

On May 21, within the framework of the International Exhibition Entech HANOI 2015, the Conference "Solution to Improve the Energy Efficiency in Industry and Building" was held.

In the beginning of May, 2015, the Hanoi Energy Conservation Centre in collaboration with the Industrial Extension & Development Consulting and Energy Conservation Center held a training course on "Capacity Improvement for Energy Saving Policy Enactment for provincial and district officials in Lao Cai Province".

Besides the operation and management of equipment, the replication of power saving and efficiency model throughout the Southern provinces has contributed to improving the efficiency in ensuring reliable supplies during the dry season.

Since 2012, the General Department of Energy - Ministry of Industry and Trade has been controlling the assignment conducted by the Poli-techniques Solar Energy Investment and Development Company Ltd. in coordination with Ha Giang Power Company to implement 3 projects with a total number of 149 benefited households.

One of successful programs is "Power Saving Family" throughout Lao Cai city with a total number of 20,000 registered households.

The Newspaper Career Journal - Ho Chi Minh City Journalist Association and the city Power Corporation held the evaluation review and awarding for Cartoonists who participated in the Cartoon Contest on Electricity Saving 2015.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Russian Federation committed to provide Vietnam a preferential credit of $10 billion for Ninh Thuan 1 NPP project. and its related preparation.

In order to contribute to socio-economic development, to stabilize the livelihood of the affected people in the areas of nuclear power plant construction, the Government and relevant agencies are working to expeditiously complete to enact mechanisms in support to socio-economic infrastructure construction in Ninh Thuan.

It is on May 20 morning in Hanoi when the International Trade Fair Entech HANOI 2015 was opened under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee and Busan (South Korea) city representatives.

On May 15, 2015, Vinh Phuc Power Company in collaboration with the Phuc Yen Town People's Committee held a ceremony to launch the program "Power Saving Family 2015". The program undergoes from now until the end of October 2015.

The Department of Science and Technology of HCM City recently held a workshop on "Solutions to Urban Waste Disposal - Research into Technology and Feasibility" to assess the situation and propose feasible solutions and technologies for making use of a huge energy from waste and urban waste disposal.

If energy continues to be wastefully used as it is now, by 2017 Vietnam will be under-supplied with its secondary energy sources.

On May 18, the workshop to "Review the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Standard and Labeling Program" was held. The project has been implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2012 with funding from the Australian Government.

Bac Lieu province with its 56km coastline is considered the best place of wind speeds in the country (averaged from 6.5 to 7.2 m/s, up to 10m/s in the peak month), with many main wind directions. Furthermore, along the coastal area of Bac Lieu there are uninhabited mudflats, very favorable for wind power development.

Currently, the energy consumption of households in Huong Hoa accounts for 50% of total electricity consumption in the district. Therefore, helping people to raise awareness of saving electricity, especially in the difficult areas is the main thrust of the district electricity board.

On May 14, 2015, a workshop on clean energy took place in HCM City with the theme "Smart Solutions for Vietnam". The Workshop was co-organized by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and Investment Newspaper to promote clean energy cooperation between the two countries.

On May 13, in Ha Nam province, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a factory of telecommunication equipment and LED Lighting, organized by KMW Vietnam Company (FDI Korean Enterprise).

Development of nuclear power (nuke power) for peaceful purposes is the consistent policy of Vietnam. This is one of the perspective and the legal basis for Vietnam's most important policy developed specifically for nuclear power reactors. This view was reflected in the decision to approve the Orientation for nuclear power planning and development in Vietnam toward 2030 by the Prime Minister.

Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee issued a Plan for energy saving and efficiency in the province for the period of 2013 - 2015. The plan states that in 2015, the province is to achieve a total savings of 6% of the province's electricity consumption as in the forecast on electricity demand, reflected in Master Plan for Power Development of Ha Giang in the phase 2011 - 2015.

New cars (7 seats or fewer) must have energy label from January 1st, 2015 under Inter-ministerial Joint Circular No. 43/2014/TTLT BGTVT-BCT promulgated by the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Industry and Trade on energy labeling for motor vehicles.

Following the success of 6 annually organized exhibitions, the 7th international exhibition of Energy Efficiency - Hanoi Environment (Entech HANOI 2015), will officially take place from on May 20 -22, 2015 at the Expo Center International ICE Hanoi, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi.
