In the first quarter of 2015, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) announced that the national grid has been in stable, safe and sound power supply operation. The Corporation has made 03 sessions of water discharge from hydropower reservoirs of Hoa Binh, Thac Ba and Tuyen Quang to irrigate for the 2014 - 2015 Winter-Spring cultivation in the provinces in the Midlands and Northern Delta.

This plan will also help reduce environmental pollution, enhance high production and competitiveness, aiming at building a green, clean and modern city.

“Saving energy is saving money,” said Thomas John, RSC’s Technical Assistant, who led the session for group of 35 housewives from the city.

Public communication plays a particular role in formulating a mindset of power saving in every customer. Therefore, the Power Company of Da Nang encourages the people to use power economically through the Fatherland Front where leaflets are distributed.

According to the Hanoi Energy Conservation Centre (Hanoi ECC), building blocks were one of the central objects to be subject to energy saving measures in the city in 2014. Thanks to the solutions including counselling, support, building blocks in the city have saved 535.3 TOEs and reduced 2,118 tons of CO2 emissions.

Earth Hour encourages households and businesses to turn off the lights and other unimportant electrical appliances for an hour from 20h30 to 21h30 (local time) on the last Saturday of March annually.

According to data from the Provincial Department of Trade and Industry, the total amount of power saved by the province in 2014 reached 44,333,546 kWh, equivalent to VND61 billion.

2015 is the final year of the National Target Programme on energy saving and efficiency from 2013 to 2015; Hanoi aims to save 6-9% of the total projected energy consumption.

In an effort to achieve more results from the National Target Program on Energy Conservation and Efficiency, in 2015, the program will focus on solutions to in-depth communication and stronger support for enterprises to bring about the best effects in energy efficiency.

The Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) started to enhance the practical measures to achieve the savings target of 1.5% of commercial electricity, equivalent to 656.7 million kWh.

Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision No. 884/QD-UBND approving the Implementation Plan of the National Target Program on energy efficiency and savings (VNEEP) in 2015.
