The Director of the Bac Giang provincial Center for Energy Conservation, Mr. Duong Van Tuan, said that for the period 2016 - 2020, the province would strive to save 5-8% of total energy consumption; with focus on prioritizing the replication of energy saving and efficiency families.

On December 23, 2015, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade sector held a closing ceremony for National Target Programme on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy in 2014 and awarded the contest winners with title "Innovative Solutions to Energy Efficiency".

During three days, December 16 -18, 2015, the Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE Project) held a training course on Optimization of industrial refrigeration system for the 2nd round.

On December 19, 2015 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a ceremony to award the winners in the Contest "Energy management in industry and buildings in 2014" honoring 16 units for their creative energy solutions and Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.

Phu Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot City cooperated with Thu Dau Mot Electricity Corporation to run the programme “Streets of power-saving culture”, responding to power-saving programme and contributing to ensuring power sources for daily activities and production.

According to the Hanoi Energy Conservation Center, the movement of Electricity Saving Households has been deployed since 2011. To date, over 5 year duration (2011-2015), the movement has saved 1.32 billion kWh, equivalent to VND2,155 billion. Particularly, in 2015, the whole city conserved over 35 million kWh.

An Giang Provincial People's Committee has approved the project on management and efficient use of rice biomass for energy generation with a total budget VND 4.310 billion in the context of climate change in An Giang province by 2030.

With a series of power-saving programs under on-going implementation, the results are achieved in the reduced power loss, continuously lower than the planned targets, from 9.23% in 2011 to 8% in 2015. In 2015, the country saved more than 2,900 billion kWh, accounting for 2.34% percentage of commercial electricity.

On Dec 16, 2015 Tien Giang province held a conference to sum up the energy savings period 2008-2015 and the strategy of cleaner production for 2011-2015 in the province. Mr. Le Van Nghia, Deputy Chairman of Tien Giang attended and chaired the meeting.

During December 01 – 04, 2015, the General Directorate of Energy – Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Danish International Development Assistance ran a training course on “Optimization of energy use in technological system of kiln” – session 1. Technical experts from 3 regions of Vietnam attended the course.

On December 8, 2015 the Da Nang People's Committee had a meeting with Mr. Ranjan K.Bose, senior energy expert of the World Bank (WB) in the framework of the field mission program between the Da Nang city People's Committee with the Mission Team of the World Bank.

On December 5, 2015, in Hanoi, the "Consultation Meeting for assessment and acceptance of National Target Program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy in Hanoi in 2015 was held by the General Department of Energy in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Industry, Trade and Energy Conservation Center.

The Government and private organizations today are increasingly aware of the opportunities to save through the efficient use of energy. According to estimates, ASEAN can save up to USD43 billion if Member States actively apply high-tech strategy to increase energy efficiency.

On December 3, in Phu Tho, the Electricity of Vietnam - Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) organized "Review Ceremony on Emulation Program of Power Saving Families in Phu Tho Province in 2015". This is the first prominent event in the series of pro-customer activities deployed by EVNNPC during the month of "Gratitude to customers - December 2015" which had been launched by Electricity of Vietnam.

December 4, 2015 the Bac Ninh Power Company (Bac Ninh PC) in cooperation with the Tu Son town People's Committee celebrated the review on "Emulation in Power Saving Families of Tu Son town in 2015", to commend 170 prize winners of Power Saving Family title, in 2015

Currently, the lighting technology used in offshore fishing boats relies on traditional high pressure lamps, incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, compact lamps, made in China, South Korea, accounting for over 50% of the total cost operation of each round offshore, increasing the financial burden for fishermen.

Electricity saving in 2014 is 17,491,760 kWh compared with the same period of previous year for the whole province, equivalent to VND 29.04 billion, accounting for 2.17% of commercial power production in the province.

During November 25-27, 2015, the leading international exhibition on water sector, water purification technology and waste water treatment in Vietnam (Vietwater 2015) was held by Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA), Ministry of Construction and Southeast Asian Water Utilities Network (SEAWUN) in the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Giang Vo Exhibition Center), Hanoi.

For two days, November 30, and December 1, 2015 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the European Union Delegation in Vietnam, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Research Centre of Asia held a workshop on the legal foundation to be laid for energy statistics in Vietnam. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong attended the workshop.

November 27, 2015. In Vietnam German Center, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a Workshop "Presentation on the results of research, design and manufacture of prototype of biomass gasifier stove and its deployment with high capacity using compressed biomass fuel pellets" was held by the Center for Innovative Consulting and Sustainable Development Research (CCS).

After the success of the Conferences in the Mid-land and the South, in the afternoon of November 18, 2015, the Conference on 5-year implementation of National target program for Energy efficiency and conservation (phase 2011-2015) in the North was held in Hanoi.

On November 17, 2015 in Hanoi, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) signed the project document "Promotion on the utilization and operation of Industrial Energy-Efficient Boilers in Vietnam".

On November 5, 2015, in Hanoi, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in cooperation with the Embassy of Iceland held a seminar on "The future of clean energy."

On November 6, 2015, at Electricity Hotel, General Department of Energy - Ministry of Industry and Trade organized "Training conference in cost estimation, settlement of full payment and financial compliance audit as specified by the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy".

Expansion of renewable energy sources is one of the important dimensions for promoting the development of the electricity sector to help the electricity sector meet the demand of 7-10% annual growth until 2030.
